Rudiger Reyels

Rüdiger Reyels (born July 29, 1941 in Salzburg ) is a former German diplomat who was, among other things, ambassador to Iran and permanent representative to NATO .

Life

After attending school, Reyels studied law at the Free University of Berlin , the University of Lausanne and the University of Geneva from 1964 to 1969 , and passed the first state examination in 1969 . After the subsequent preparatory service and the Second State Examination and the promotion of Doctor of Law in 1973 at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main with a dissertation on the subject of tort cases with foreign French private international law , he joined in 1973 in the diplomatic service and was initially worked in the Foreign Office in Bonn until 1976 .

He was then used at the embassy in Israel and then again from 1979 to 1983 in the Foreign Office before he worked at the permanent mission to NATO in Brussels between 1983 and 1986 . He then returned to the Foreign Office and was ambassador to Zambia from 1990 to 1993 .

He then returned to the Federal Foreign Office as a human resources officer, and between 1998 and 2000 he took over the post of Deputy Commissioner of the Federal Government for issues relating to disarmament and arms control . He was then ambassador to Iran from 2000 to 2003 .

Most recently, Dr. Reyels between 2003 and his transfer to the retirement in 2006 Permanent Representative to NATO in Brussels.

He is currently Program Director International Diplomats Program (IDP) in the International Diplomat Training Team at the Foreign Service Academy .
