Rudiger Roehl

Rüdiger Roehl (* 1942 ) is a Berlin metal sculptor .

After training as a blacksmith with Fritz Kühn , Rüdiger Roehl studied sculpture at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art until the end of the 1960s , specializing in metal design. In the 1970s he settled in Berlin and, together with Jan Skuin and Gerd Werner, opened a metal art workshop in Berlin-Bohnsdorf in 1973 .

In Berlin, Roehl realized numerous metal sculptures in public spaces such as in Treptow and Baumschulenweg as well as church decorations such as the decoration in the Biesdorf Church of Reconciliation .

• 2011: Together with the Berlin metal artists Jürgen Steinau (* 1953), Olaf Haacke (* 1951) and Lutz Holland (1934-2012), all of whom also completed their training at Burg Giebichenstein, in 2011, under the title Metal - Art - Handicrafts organized a work exhibition in the Kunstgewerbemuseum at Schloss Köpenick .

• around 1987: Main door of the Marzahn town hall on Helene-Weigel-Platz , together with Jan Skuin.
  The two-winged door at the main entrance was made of iron, plastic and glass and represented stylized parts of plants. The whereabouts of the work of art are unknown.

  Inscription: “In Treptow fifteen people died of the Berlin Wall. Two children were among the victims. Jörg Hartmann, 10 years old and Lothar Schleusener, 13 years old, shot on March 14, 1966V. "
• 2000: Memorial for the last war dead at the end of the war in 1945, mass grave complex in the old garrison cemetery in Berlin-Mitte , together with Jan Skuin
• 2005/2006: Art installation Hobby Horse dreams with the rainbow (together with Jan Skuin), in Berlin-Marzahn , Havemannstraße ; Metal, bronze, stainless steel and sheet copper
  A 7-meter-high construction modeled on a rainbow in shape and color , has a horse's head at the top, under which a hobby horse sways in the wind. The work of art marks the Ahrensfeld terraces , residential buildings created by the demolition of prefabricated buildings.
