Rüdiger Sterzenbach
Rüdiger Sterzenbach (born December 7, 1946 in Dernbach (Neuwied district) near Dierdorf) is a German economist and transport scientist, sports official , CDU politician and representative of an entrepreneurial family. He was Professor for Economics and Passenger Transport Management at the University of Heilbronn , former President of the Sports Federation and chairman of the Sports Aid Rhineland-Palatinate / Saarland and economic policy spokesman of the CDU Rhineland-Palatinate.
Life
Rüdiger Sterzenbach studied economics at the Philipps University in Marburg and graduated early with a special permit as a graduate economist. He was a research assistant at the Research Institute for Economic Policy ("Welter Institute") at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and did his doctorate on the subject of "Parity change and shipping". From 1977 to 2012 he was Professor of Economics and Economics and Business Administration of Passenger Transport at the Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences with temporary functions as Dean, Dean of Studies and Head of Department. He led u. a. as chairman of the working group of the business administration departments at the universities of applied sciences in Baden-Württemberg and represented the university in the working group for research at universities of applied sciences in the responsible ministry.
Rüdiger Sterzenbach was retired from the university with a festive ceremony. The speech was given by the President of the DFB Dr. Theo Zwanziger . To mark his farewell, the commemorative publication “Verkehrwesen –Theorie und Praxis”, published by Frank Fichert. Rüdiger Sterzenbach was a. a. Member of the advisory board of the Gesellschaft für Verkehrsbetriebswirtschaft (Munich) and "VIP Think Tank - Future Urban Mobility" (Vienna). He was an arbitrator within the Rhein-Mosel transport association (VRM) and the Rhein-Nahe transport association (RNN). Sterzenbach conceptually accompanies the large scientific study "Public Transport Transparency Register" over several years. He was spokesman for the Advisory Board for the Transport Management and Passenger Transport Department at Heilbronn University and is a member of the Tourism / Transportation Advisory Board at the University of Worms . His books Luftverkehr (as a founder and after his retirement now as a co-author) and ÖPNV Marketing (with the collaboration of Jörg Schwarzer) are considered standard works in their field.
Rüdiger Sterzenbach is a representative of Erhard's economic policy based on the social market economy ( Müller-Armack ) and basic ordoliberal principles ( Eucken ). Rüdiger Sterzenbach has a degree in the apprenticeship "professional driver - passenger transport -". He provided the "blueprint" for the first concession competition in public transport in Germany.
In addition to his academic work was Rüdiger Sterzbach shareholder of SZ-transport company, one of the largest private public road transport provider with a focus in Rhineland-Palatinate and southern North Rhine-Westphalia . The SZ-Verkehrsbetriebe has a significant share in the Rhein-Mosel Verkehrsgesellschaft Koblenz and a majority stake in the Stadtwerke Neuwied transport company . SZ-Verkehrsbetriebe was sold to the French transport group Transdev in 2006 . Stadtwerke Bonn is responsible for operational management .
Rüdiger Sterzenbach was also a co-founder of a non-profit company for the integration of the severely disabled. He is married and has two grown sons.
voluntary work
Rüdiger Sterzenbach was active in the CDU from a young age , for which he held various voluntary positions. He was treasurer and economic policy spokesman for the CDU Rhineland-Palatinate. He ran the publishing and sales company of the CDU Rhineland-Palatinate and its assets as an honorary managing director (voice of the Union of Rhineland-Palatinate). In addition, for several years he was district chairman of the CDU district Neuwied, of which he is honorary chairman. He sat for the CDU in the Neuwied district assembly and led the district assembly. He was also the chairman of a district organization of the Europa Union in the Neuwied district.
In addition to his party-political activities, Rüdiger Sterzenbach was active in various voluntary positions in sport. He was chairman of the Sporthilfe Rheinland-Pfalz / Saarland, which he helped to found. He was also President of the State Sports Federation of Rhineland-Palatinate. Among other things, he was chairman of the Standing Conference of the State Sports Associations and a member of the SWR Broadcasting Council . He is a member of the program advisory board of German Regional Television (DRF 1).
During his presidency, the sports management course was introduced at the Koblenz / Remagen University and the school sports alliance was launched to emphasize the importance of school sports. Sport is included in the state constitution and the “Sport for Health” quality seal is introduced. The "Pierre de Coubertin" Abitur prize is awarded for the first time, and an eco-check in the sports club is offered for the first time. Framework agreements are made between the LSB and the state of Rhineland-Palatinate for school sports, and the “Dream Team Rhineland-Palatinate” to promote top-class sports is launched. In its responsibility as President, the State Sports Association of Rhineland-Palatinate was the first state sports association in Germany to anchor gender mainstream in its statutes.
Sterzenbach particularly promoted the partnership between the state sports association and Komárom-Esztergom county in Hungary. In recognition of his services, the Minister for Youth and Sport of the Republic of Hungary awarded him the " Miksa Esterházy ".
He was u. a. Patron of the Fair Play Tour d'Europe.
For his work as a sports official, he has received the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon, the Certificate for Merit for Sport in Europe, the Sporthilfe Award from the Sporthilfe Rheinland-Pfalz Foundation and the Certificate of Honor from the State Sports Association of Thuringia for exceptional services to the promotion of sport in Thuringia , been awarded.
Rüdiger Sterzenbach was briefly honorary managing director and president of TuS Koblenz , at the time a member of the 2nd Bundesliga.
