The former Transdev was a French transport company that operated public transport in various countries and merged with Veolia Transport in 2011 to become Veolia Transdev. Veolia Transdev was again in March 2013 in Transdev renamed.

history

Transdev was a subsidiary of the French state-owned Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations, founded in 1955 under the name Société centrale pour l'équipement du territoire and active in the transport sector from 1973 . On 3 March 2011, the company has Veolia Transport , one of his closest competitor, merged and is part of the new company , Veolia Transdev become.

In the course of this merger, RATP , a minority shareholder of Transdev, took over part of Transdev's activities directly instead of paying out its shares.

Transdev recently employed 47,000 people worldwide and achieved sales of around 2.5 billion euros (2010). The company was in France (39% of sales, 18,200 employees), the Netherlands (33% of sales, 14,700 employees), the United Kingdom (11%), Italy (6%), Portugal (5%) and Germany , Active in Australia , Canada , Spain and Morocco . According to the company's own information, the vehicle fleet comprised a total of 15,624  buses and ferries , 542  underground , tram and other trains as well as 4,581  other vehicles .

In Germany

Transdev has been represented in Germany in 2006 since the takeover of the SZ Group, a family company that has been operating in regular services since 1928 . Shortly before the merger with Veolia, the company announced that it operated bus routes at several locations with around 350 employees in the federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia , Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse with a fleet of around 350 buses in total. In North Rhine-Westphalia only lines in the greater Siegen area were operated; in Rhineland-Palatinate in the Neuwied / Koblenz area and in Hesse in the Limburg-Weilburg district with a focus on Limburg and in the Lahn-Dill district with the cities of Wetzlar, Herborn, Dillenburg to the Gießen district, with the operation of a bus line. In addition, Transdev held EuRailCo , a European railway company founded in 2003 , which in Germany has a 100% stake in trans regio .
