ROOTS (Route of Overcoming the Struggle) is the second studio album by US rapper Flo Rida . It was released on March 31, 2009 by the record labels Poe Boy Entertainment and Atlantic Records .

criticism

David Jeffries from Allmusic wrote about the album: "The unsurprisingly inconsistent ROOTS is hip-hop like Nas never happened, a flash or fodder album owing more to Lady Gaga than to Public Enemy ." He gave 3 out of 5 stars.

The Grammy Awards 2010 was ROOTS in the category Best Rap Album nominated, but lost Relapse by Eminem .

Singles

Right Round is the first single from the album and became Flo Rida's second number one hit. It was released on January 29, 2009. The singer Kesha has a guest appearance on the song.

Sugar is the second single from the album. It was released on March 17, 2009. The single made it to number 5 on the US charts.

Jump is the third single from the album. It was released on July 29, 2009. Nelly Furtado is the feature guest on the song. The song entered the charts in Germany, America, England, Canada and Australia.

Be On You is the fourth single from the album. It was released on October 6, 2009. Singer Ne-Yo was a feature guest. The single made it to number 19 on the US charts.

Sales

The album sold 55,000 copies in America within the first week. In August 2009 the album had sold over 750,000 copies worldwide and became the eighth best-selling rap album in 2009.
