Raško Katić ( Serbian - Cyrillic Рашко Катић ; born December 8, 1980 in Kragujevac , SR Serbia ) is a Serbian basketball player . In addition to various clubs in his home country, Katić played four seasons for the German first division club Walter Tigers from Tübingen between 2005 and 2009 in the basketball Bundesliga . In the 2012/13 season he plays for the Serbian runner-up KK Red Star from the capital Belgrade .

Career

Katić first played higher class for his home club Zastava from 2002, initially in the second highest division. After promotion to the top division, he moved to the capital Belgrade at the beginning of 2004 to join league rivals Red Star, who won the national cup competition " Radivoj Korać " this season . In the following season Katić moved in January 2005 first to the basketball team of İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi in the Türkiye Basketbol Ligi , before he returned to his home country in March 2005 and played for Ergonom in Niš .

For the following season 2005/06 Katić moved to Germany for the first division Tigers Tübingen in the basketball league , with which he managed to stay in the league in each of the following four seasons. The best placement was achieved in the 2006/07 Basketball Bundesliga with tenth place after the main round. After Katić was allowed to take part in the BBL All-Star Game 2008, he was selected in his last season for Tübingen in the basketball Bundesliga 2008/09 as the second best player in his position in the "All-BBL Second Team".

After four years in Tübingen, Katić returned to his homeland in 2009 and played for KK Hemofarm in Vršac , which were eliminated in the first group stage of the Eurocup 2009/10 . In the supranational Adriatic League they failed against the national competitor KK Partizan in the semifinals. Against the Serbian series champions they also lost the final series of the play-offs for the Serbian championship. In the following season Katić moved to Partizan in the capital Belgrade and won with this club again the Adriatic League and in addition to the national cup win in a new edition of the final series, the Serbian championship against his former club from Vršac. In the Adria League 2012 they were eliminated somewhat surprisingly in the semi-finals against Croatian representative KK Cedevita , but were able to defend the national double again. Both national titles were won against local rivals Red Star, who was to become Katić's new club for the 2012/13 season and with whom he was able to celebrate the national cup win in 2013 as in 2004. For the 2014/15 season he then moved to Spain to CAI Zaragoza . There he reached only a midfield position with the team. In 2015 he went to Belgium to BC Ostend and celebrated the double with his new team in the first year. As a result, his contract was extended by one year.

National team

In 2013 and 2014 Rasko Katić played for the Serbian national team. With her he reached the 7th place at the Eurobasket 2013 . A year later, he and his team were runner-up in the Basketball World Cup . Although only qualified fourth in their preliminary group for the round of 16, the team only had to admit defeat to the USA in the final.
