The Rabengrundkopf (formerly: Platthöhe and Hörsteiner Berg ) is a 395 meter high mountain in the Spessart in the Bavarian district of Aschaffenburg . It belongs to the Hahnenkamm ridge .

geography

The municipal boundary between Alzenau ( Hörstein district ) and Mömbris runs just below the summit . To the south is the Johannesberg district of Rückersbach , to the east of the Mömbris district of Hohl . The Bach Quellengraben rises in the west of the mountain , and the Rückersbach in the north . There the Rabengrundkopf goes flat to the Stempelhöhe and in the south to the Berg Haag. In the northwest is the Schützberg . The Franconian Marienweg leads over the Rabengrundkopf .

history

Border stone at the Rabengrundkopf. It separated the historical areas of the Grand Duchy of Hesse and the Grand Duchy of Frankfurt

The border between Alzenau and Mömbris did not always run across the Rabengrundkopf . There are a number of well-preserved, old boundary stones from 1810. They separated the historical areas of two earlier states in the Rhine Confederation . On one side was the territory of the Grand Duchy of Hesse , to which the town of Hörstein in the Alzenau district in the Starkenburg province belonged. On the other side was the Grand Duchy of Frankfurt with the village of Hohl in the Aschaffenburg department .
