List of grape varieties |
The red wine variety Raboso Veronese is an autochthonous variety of northern Italy. The name Veronese alludes less to the province of Verona than to a person from this area who did a lot for spreading the variety. Its cultivation is recommended in the provinces of Padua , Rovigo , Treviso and Vicenza and the metropolitan cities of Bologna and Venice . It is also approved in the provinces of Cremona , Verona , Ferrara and Modena as well as the former province of Pordenone . In Italy, a planted vineyard area of 700 hectares was surveyed in 1999 , in Argentina the area was almost 100 hectares. Raboso Veronese is a variety of the noble grapevine ( Vitis vinifera ). It has hermaphroditic flowers and is therefore self-fruiting. In viticulture , the economic disadvantage of not having to grow male plants that produce yield is avoided.
The late-ripening variety is vigorous and high-yielding. The varietal red wines have an intense ruby red color, are rich in acidity and tannins and have a medium alcohol content. The wine finds its way into the Bagnoli di Sopra DOC wine as a single variety or blended .
