Radstube Franzstollen
The Radstube Franz tunnel in the mining region resin is a former mining facility in the district of Elbingerode (Harz) the city Oberharz am Brocken in Saxony-Anhalt . It was mainly used to drain the surrounding tunnels and shafts in the Hanoverian (from 1866 Prussian ) mining area of Elbingerode. The remains of the Radstube and the neighboring dry stone walls of the moat , together with the mouth of the immediately neighboring Hartengrippenhagensberger adit, are under monument protection. The Radstube Franzstollen is a station on the Elbingerode mining trail .

The remains of the Radstube belonging to the Franzstollen are located on Büchenberg in the northern Harz not far from the federal highway 244 , which connects Wernigerode with Elbingerode (Harz). Only a few meters away from the Radstube leads the Weißkopfchaussee, which joins the Bundesstraße 244 at the former Bolmke Chausseehaus not far from the Schlosswasserhäuschen .
history
The former office of Elbingerode , on the border of which the Radstube is located, belonged to the Counts of Stolberg, who resided at Wernigerode Castle , until the 16th century . They lost the office of Elbingerode, which was very profitable due to the abundant mining, to the Dukes of Braunschweig, whereby it fell to the Electorate of Hanover in the 18th century and belonged to the Prussian Province of Hanover from 1867 .
In the years from 1694 to 1709 the neighboring Hartengrippenhagensberger adit was excavated , which was later called Franzstollen. The water coming from the tunnel was channeled into a ditch that operated the artificial bike hanging in the wheel room . The brick remains of the Radstube and parts of the dry stone wall of the moat are still preserved today.

The structural remains of the former (art) wheel room of the Franzstollen are recorded together with the tunnel mouth hole as a monument under the registration number 094 55843 in the list of cultural monuments in Oberharz am Brocken .
