Career

Ragnhild Femsteinevik starts for the Haalandsdal IL association . She contested her first international race at the 2016 Biathlon Junior World Championships in Cheile Grădiştei, Romania . In the individual race, she only achieved 27th place with a shooting error. At the beginning of the 2016/17 season she was fifth in the first race of the IBU Cup, the sprint in Beitostølen , and was then nominated for the World Cup races in Östersund and on the Pokljuka plateau. After three races, some of which she finished well outside of the points - the sprint in Slovenia even in 103rd and penultimate place of the ranked athletes - she only competed in races in the second-rate IBU Cup until the end of the season . After a year without international races, she started again in the IBU Cup in winter 2018/19 . With a third place in the sprint in Bayerisch Eisenstein , she reached her first podium, followed in Lenzerheide - together with Håvard Bogetveit , Johannes Dale and Emilie Ågheim Kalkenberg - another third place in the mixed relay race . After a very good ninth place in the individual race over 15 km at the European Championships in Minsk , she just missed the medal ranks in the simple mixed relay in fourth place after Endre Strømsheim had to run three penalty laps after the last shooting. In the last split, the two Norwegians were only a second behind the leading relay from France at the time.
