Rahden is a village in the town of the same name Rahden in the Minden-Lübbecke district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The village of Rahden is the capital of the city of the same name and has various public facilities such as the town hall, secondary schools, the city library, the city sports hall and the train station. Today's Rahden was an independent municipality in the Rahden district ( Lübbecke district ) until December 31, 1972 . Today's inner city area developed into a trading center for the surrounding villages with the construction of St. John's Church in 1353 . Until 1910, the municipality was called Großendorf, which also included the areas of the Espelkamp Zentrum and Altgemeinde Espelkamp districts of today's town of Espelkamp . In 1910, the Espelkamp community was split off. From then on, the Rahden office developed on the one hand and the Espelkamp-Mittwald community on the other. Due to the Bielefeld Act , the municipalities of the old Rahden office merged on January 1, 1973 to form the town of Rahden.
