Varl is a district of the city of Rahden in the far north of North Rhine-Westphalia with around 1700 inhabitants.

history

The year 1270 is regarded as the official date of the establishment of the town. With the help of old stone graves, however, one can see that there were settlements of people there before. On January 1, 1973 Varl was incorporated into the city of Rahden. Espelkamp , bordering to the west, received eleven residents who lived on an area of ​​7 hectares. 60 hectares with three residents moved to Stemwede to the south .
