The Raiffeisenkasse Überetsch (Italian: Cassa Raiffeisen Oltradige ) is a cooperative local bank in South Tyrol with six branches and an agency and operates in Überetsch and Tramin . It was founded in 1972 and has developed into one of the largest Raiffeisenkassen in South Tyrol (total assets on December 31, 2019: EUR 629 million).

The area of activity in the narrower sense is divided into the communities Eppan , Kaltern and Tramin and comprises over 26,000 inhabitants. Of the approximately 17,000 customers, 4,701 are currently also members and therefore co-owners of the bank. The administrative headquarters are located at the Rathausplatz in St. Michael / Eppan.

At the end of 2019, the financial institution had 90 employees.

history

Spurred on by the vision of the founder of the cooperative, Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen (1818–1888) and the idea of founding a Raiffeisenkasse in the municipality of Eppan, a founding committee chaired by Arnold Plunger began its work in 1968. At the same time, there was also a growing desire in the municipality of Kaltern to re-establish the Raiffeisenkasse that had once existed. Here it was the then chairman of the First Cellar Cooperative in Kaltern, Johann Sölva, who started the preparations at the head of the working committee.

timeline

  • On March 25, 1972, the notarial establishment of the Raiffeisenkasse St. Paul / Eppan in the cinema in Eppan was made and the first board of directors was elected with Arnold Plunger as chairman.
  • Just three days later, the Raiffeisenkasse St. Pauls / Eppan submitted three applications to the regional committee for the construction of further bank counters in St. Michael / Eppan , Kaltern and Girlan.
  • On November 10, 1972, the regional committee approved the opening of a bank counter in St. Pauls and three days later the Raiffeisenkasse St. Pauls / Eppan was able to start its activities under the direction of Hansjörg Hechensteiner. For the first time in 35 years, its own cooperative bank opened a counter in the Überetsch after the turmoil of fascism had forced the Raiffeisenkasse to give up.
  • Between 1973 and 1976, branches were opened one after the other in Kaltern, St. Michael and Girlan , thus achieving the goal of being able to serve the main locations of the Überetsch with a Raiffeisen bank counter. At the same time, the administrative headquarters were moved to St. Michael / Eppan and the logical consequence was the change in the name of Raiffeisenkasse St. Pauls / Eppan to Raiffeisenkasse Überetsch in 1977. On July 1, 1997, the first director, Hansjörg Hechensteiner, retired, who during his 25 years of activity had built the Raiffeisenkasse Überetsch into one of the largest Raiffeisenkasse in the state of South Tyrol.

Further cornerstones in the history of the Raiffeisenkasse Überetsch were the completion of the renovation work and the reopening of the administrative headquarters on Rathausplatz in St. Michael / Eppan in 1984, as well as the opening of bank counters in Frangart (1985), Tramin (1990) and Kaltern - Bahnhofstrasse (1994 ). With this, the Raiffeisenkasse Überetsch achieved its network of branches and agencies that still exists today to serve its members and customers in Überetsch and Tramin.
