Rainer Küchl

Rainer Küchl (born August 25, 1950 in Waidhofen an der Ybbs ) is an Austrian violinist .

Life

Küchl began studying the violin at the age of 11, in 1964 with Franz Samohyl at the Vienna Music Academy . Orchestra member of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra , Rainer Küchl was engaged in December 1970 at the age of twenty as concertmaster of the orchestra of the Vienna State Opera and the Vienna Philharmonic due to an audition and succeeded in this position at the beginning of 1971 the retiring professor Willi Boskovsky .

In 1972 Küchl took up the position of concertmaster of the court orchestra . In 1973 the Küchl Quartet (known internationally as the Wiener Musikverein Quartet ) was founded, in 1982 he was appointed full professor for violin at the Vienna University of Music, in 1985 he took over the management of the Wiener Ring Ensemble , which primarily deals with waltz music employed according to the tradition of the Vienna Philharmonic. Today the Küchl Quartet plays with Rainer Küchl and Daniel Froschauer (violin), Heinrich Koll (viola), Robert Nagy (cello).

Professor Rainer Küchl plays the Chaconne , a violin built by Antonio Stradivari in 1725 and made available to him by the Oesterreichische Nationalbank .

On September 1, 2016, he was succeeded by Jose Maria Blumenschein as concertmaster of the State Opera Orchestra.
