Rainer Schach

Rainer Schach (born June 13, 1951 in Blaubeuren ) is a German civil engineer .

Life

Chess studied civil engineering (structural engineering) at the University of Stuttgart . After graduating, he was construction manager in South Africa and Canada from 1975 to 1977. From 1978 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Construction Management at the University of Stuttgart and in 1983 was awarded a Dr.-Ing. In 1983 with the work “Controlling the supply of construction sites with ready -mixed concrete” at Gerhard Drees . PhD . He worked as an engineer in the planning and project planning for power plant construction at Brown, Boveri & Cie in Mannheim and in 1984 took over the organizational management of the Dreßler Bau construction company in Aschaffenburg and became head of the Rastatt branch in 1990.

In 1996 he received a call to the Chair for Construction Management at the Technical University of Dresden and at the same time he was appointed director of the Institute of Construction Management. Since 2006, Schach has also been Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the TU Dresden. In 2007 he was made an honorary professor at the South Russian Technical University in Novocherkassk .

Schach has made several important publications on corporate governance, project development and facility management topics. The three-volume work "Basics of Construction Management", written with Fritz Berner and Bernd Kochendörfer , is a standard work for teaching and research.
