Rainer Schlittgen

Rainer Schlittgen (born August 4, 1946 in Leipzig ) is a German mathematician and emeritus professor of statistics in the business administration department of the University of Hamburg .

Life

Rainer Schlittgen studied mathematics at the Free University of Berlin , where he graduated in 1971 with a degree in mathematics with the grade very good.

From 1971 to 1975 he was an assistant at the Institute for Statistics in the Cybernetics Department at the Technical University of Berlin . In 1974 Schlittgen received his doctorate in mathematics with summa cum laude . The topic of his dissertation was sufficiency for subparameters .

From 1975 to 1980 he worked as an assistant professor in the economics department of the Free University of Berlin. In 1978 he achieved his habilitation in statistics there.

From 1980 to 1983 Schlittgen worked as an employee with a focus on applied statistics in various companies.

From 1983 to 1990 he was employed as a professor of statistics at the University of Essen .

From 1990 Rainer Schlittgen was Professor of Statistics at the University of Hamburg.

At the Global Marketing Conference in Tokyo 2010, Rainer Schlittgen received the Best Paper Award as co-author in the Track Advancing Research Methods in Marketing for the article Using Genetic Algorithm Segmentation in PLS Path Modeling. Addressing Homogeneity Assumptions .

Research priorities

His main areas of work were time series analysis , multivariate statistics and samples .

In 1978 and 1986 research stays as visiting scholar at the University of Canterbury and Newcastle University , both United Kingdom (UK). In 1997 Schlittgen was a visiting scholar at the University of California, San Diego in the United States of America (USA).
