Ueckert sat several times as a member of the Berlin House of Representatives. First he was represented in Parliament from 1999 to 2001, then from October 25, 2002 to March 21, 2003, and then from June 2006 to 2011. Most recently he sat on the Committee for Building and Housing and the Committee for Urban Development and Transport. In the 2006 election he was able to prevail in the constituency of Tempelhof-Schöneberg 6 and obtain a direct mandate for the House of Representatives.

As transport policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group, Ueckert came into conflict with his party colleagues because of the assessment and future prospects of the Berlin S-Bahn . He refused to support the resignation of SPD Transport Senator Ingeborg Junge-Reyer , which was called for by the CDU . He was also against the CDU's demand to terminate the S-Bahn contract early and to put some of the routes out to tender. Later he resigned from the CDU parliamentary group in the summer of 2009 and was then listed as a non-attached MP . Ueckert, however, categorically refused to leave the party.
