Rainer Zietsch (born November 21, 1964 in Gauangelloch / Leimen ) is a former German professional footballer . Since the 2018/19 season he has been the coach and sporting director of the second team of the Würzburger Kickers .

Career

After graduating from high school, Zietsch began his professional career in 1983 at VfB Stuttgart , which ended in 1998 at SpVgg Greuther Fürth . In total, Zietsch played 265 Bundesliga and 67 second division games, in which he scored a total of 18 goals, received 42 yellow, 2 yellow-red and 2 red cards. After his active time, he acquired the A license as a trainer and from January 2001 to the end of 2006 he was the managing director of fussballD21 GmbH , a youth development project that was launched by the Youth Football Foundation. From October 1, 2006 to April 2016, he was managing director of the youth and amateur division of 1. FC Nürnberg . In the meantime he had trained the club's U19s again in 2013. From 2016 to 2017 he was assistant coach of the German U-17 national team. For the season 2017/18 he took over the Bavarian League -Absteiger 1. SC Feucht . The direct resurgence failed with third place in the table.

From the 2018/19 season, Zietsch will take over the second team of the third division Würzburger Kickers .

National team

On September 8, 1981, Zietsch made his debut in the U-18 national team , which won 2-1 against France in Zülpich . His only international goal in 16 matches, he scored on January 12, 1983 in Leningrad in the 3-2 defeat against the selection of the ČSSR during the "Granatkin Memorial Tournament". His last international match for this national team he played on May 17, 1983 in Liverpool in a 3-1 win against Bulgaria.

For the U-16 national team , he completed six international matches. His debut took place only after his debut in the U-18 national team on November 24, 1981 in Lingen (Ems) in the qualifier for the 1st UEFA competition of the U-16s in a 4-1 win against the Netherlands.
