Rajko Tavčar (born July 21, 1974 in Kranj , Yugoslavia ) is a former Slovenian professional football player .
Position and style of play
Tavčar played on the left side of midfield, in central midfield or in defense. He played reliably defensively and took the initiative on the offensive too.
Career
society
Tavčar started playing football at TSV East Munich. In 1980 he moved to MSV Munich, where he played for 14 years in the youth teams and finally in the men's team. In the following 20 years he changed clubs eleven times. Tavčar spent his most successful time as a professional soccer player from 2000 to 2002 at 1. FC Nürnberg , with whom he was promoted to the Bundesliga in 2001 .
In the 2001/02 season he suffered a knee injury. In order to be operational for Slovenia at the 2002 World Cup , he had a knee operation performed without consulting the club and was therefore no longer available to the club for the rest of the season. So it happened that he took part in the World Cup (he played a total of seven times for Slovenia), but was not offered an improved contract by the club, so he left 1. FC Nürnberg. The fact that he played at SpVgg Unterhaching for three years could have something to do with the fact that he had successfully taken on the role of long-time regular player on the left, Matthias Lust . Tavčar left Unterhaching after the 2006/07 relegation season and ended his career.
