life and career

Hirani's father, Suresh Hirani, came from Mehrabpur in Sindh (now Pakistan ) and fled when Rajkumar was 14 years old with his family after the partition of India in 1947 to Nagpur in Maharashtra, where he later became the owner of a typewriter business . Hirani helped there as a child and was considered a good seller.

Hirani initially wanted to be an actor and was sent to an acting school in Mumbai by his father . After just three days, he dropped out of school on the grounds that he could not integrate properly and traveled back to Nagpur. His father then suggested that he take a course at the Film and Television Institute in Pune . Since the acting course there was already booked due to the high demand, he decided to study film editing . He successfully completed this course.

Hirani's career began as a film editor in Mumbai. He became known as a screenwriter for his films Munna Bhai MBBS , 3 Idiots and PK in India and received many awards.
