Ralf Itzel

Ralf Itzel (* 1969 in Munich ) is a German football commentator and sports journalist .

Life

From 1996 to 2014 Itzel worked for the private television broadcaster Eurosport as a commentator on football broadcasts, including the 1998 World Cup , EM 2000 , various African , World and European women's championships , the Algarve Cup , the AFC Champions League (on Eurosport 2 ) and many more World and European championships for the male and female youth teams as well as the Futsal World Championship . In addition, he was a regular voiceover for the soccer magazines Eurogoals and Champions Club . From June 2014 to January 2015 he was employed by the Brazilian television network TV Globo .

He has also been working as a freelance sports journalist since 1990 and has written for daily newspapers such as the Berliner Zeitung , Financial Times Deutschland , Frankfurter Rundschau , Hamburger Abendblatt , Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger , Stuttgarter Zeitung , Süddeutsche Zeitung , taz and the Swiss Tages-Anzeiger , magazines like stern and online portals like derwesten.de , mainly about Spanish football . He also worked alongside Axel Höpner and Markus Hederer as the author of the sports yearbooks Falken Sportjahr 95 and Falken Sportjahr 96 , published by Falken-Verlag .

Itzel lived in Madrid from 1996 and in Brazil since 2014. He speaks English, French, Spanish and Portuguese fluently as well as Italian.
