Ralf Raths (* 1977 in Goslar ) is a German historian and director of the German Tank Museum in Munster .

Life

Raths studied history and political science at the University of Hanover . He completed his studies in 2005 with a master's thesis on the subject of land warfare, which was published in slightly abridged form by MGFA in 2009 at Rombach Verlag .

Between 2005 and 2011 Raths took on teaching positions in military history at the History Department of the University of Hanover. In 2011, his multimedia seminar “The Experience of Modern Battle” was awarded as part of the Lower Saxony University Didactics Prize campusemerge.

From 2008 to 2012 Raths worked as Scientific Director at the German Tank Museum in Munster; since 2013 he has been its director. Since taking up his position at the Panzermuseum, Raths has been pushing ahead with its conversion from an almost purely technical exhibition to a multi-perspective museum based on ICOM standards.

In 2013 Raths was appointed to the German Commission for Military History within the International Commission for Military History (CIHM).
