Ralph Woolsey

Ralph Woolsey (born January 1, 1914 in Oregon - † March 23, 2018 in Woodland Hills , Los Angeles , California ) was an American cameraman .

Life

Woolsey began his career in the 1930s directing nature films for the state of Minnesota . After World War II , he moved to California to work in the film business. He was involved as a cameraman in various documentaries and worked for Warner Brothers from 1957 . He also taught at the University of Southern California . Until the late 1960s, he was mainly involved in various television series. This was followed by several cinema and television films up to and including 1980.

In 1959, he was an episode of Maverick first time for the Emmy nominated a second nomination followed a year later. In 1968 he was honored with an Emmy for his work on an episode of Your Appearance, Al Mundy .

Woolsey had been a member of the American Society of Cinematographers since 1956 and its president in 1983/1984. In 2003 he was honored by the organization with the ASC President's Award .
