Randens Hög

Randens Hög (also called Kung Ranes grav , Döde kungen or Våern ) is a round hill near the Ranelidsrondellen roundabout (named after the hill) on the Apelviksleden road in Varberg in Halland in Sweden .

During the Bronze Age the hill was rounded but was later damaged by excavations. The hill is about 30 m in diameter and 1.5 m high. There is a building block on the hill , probably a boundary marker.

Whether a king was buried there cannot be answered as the tomb was never examined. The area around Varberg has numerous remains from the Bronze Age (1800–500 BC).

Large hills with a diameter of more than 30 meters are often called Kungshögen in Sweden ( German  "Königshügel" - Sättuna Kungshög ; Kungshögen Högsäter and Nysäter; Kungshögen Höllviken and the Kungshögarna of Malmö-Oxie ). They are mainly to be found around the Mälaren . The large mounds often date from the younger Iron Age . Some of the largest are: Anundshög in Västmanland , Grönehög in Bohuslän , Högom in Medelpad , Inglinge hög in Småland , Ledbergs kulle in Östergötland , Skalunda hög in Västergötland , Ströbo hög in Västmanland and the three hills in Alt-Uppsala in Uppland .
