Town Hall (Wemding)
The town hall in Wemding , a town in the Donau-Ries district in the Bavarian administrative district of Swabia , was built in 1551/52. The town hall on Marktplatz 1, built in place of a previous building, is a protected architectural monument .
History and description
The three-storey gable roof with a three-storey gable with battlements , spherical attachments and curved cornices and a bell- shaped roof turret has a massive ground floor. An outside staircase leads to the corner of the main entrance with a neo-Gothic portal . In the west there is a vaulted arcade and the former Schranne . The upper floor is cantilevered and built in half-timbered construction. The second floor is also cantilevered but solidly bricked.
Todays use
The town hall (Marktplatz 3) is the seat of the city administration and the Wemding administrative association founded on May 1, 1978 .
