Town hall in Grünsfeld

The town hall in Grünsfeld , a town in the Main-Tauber district in Baden-Württemberg , was built in 1579. The town hall at Hauptstraße 12 is a protected architectural monument .

history

Today's half-timbered town hall was built in 1579 on the foundation walls of a previous building. As a representative building, it was not surpassed by any other building in the city. Extensive renovation work was carried out on the building in the 19th and 20th centuries. The butcher and baker's department store in the basement, accessible through two arched gates, was built with walls.

description

The long eaves side of the town hall faces the street. A low upper floor stands above the massive, high ground floor. The narrow gable ends are three-story and the gable roof is broken by a small hip . Under the window parapets are St. Andrew's crosses , diamonds and other forms of decoration. The corner stands are carved and have a coat of arms. The eight-sided stair tower is particularly noticeable, on the hood of which sits a bell cage with the council bell . The bell was cast in 1624 by Paul Arnold from Fulda . The upper floor of the stair tower is richly carved.

The large hall or the citizens' hall is located on the upper floor . In 1925 the windows were provided with leaded glazing showing the coat of arms of Grünsfeld and Baden as well as a man and a woman in regional costume .
