Town hall in Tirschenreuth

The town hall is the central administrative building of the city of Tirschenreuth in the Upper Palatinate . The town hall is located on the market square and was built in 1582/83. Today it is a protected architectural monument .

history

The Tirschenreuth town hall was originally located in the middle of the upper market square, but was moved to the western row of houses on the square to facilitate traffic. The current building dates from 1582/83 and was built in the Renaissance style. During the big fire in Tirschenreuth in 1814 , the town hall burned down almost completely. Only the facade facing the market square with the bay window remained. During the subsequent reconstruction, the two stepped gables and the small bell tower on the roof were omitted.

Until the beginning of the 20th century, there was a small bread shop on the ground floor next to the entrance, where bakers from all over the city sold their goods.

description

Winter town hall

The architectural style of the town hall is based on the Renaissance style . The bay window on the facade of the building, which extends over the two upper floors and rests on richly decorated stone anchors, is particularly worth seeing . The coat of arms of the Electoral Palatinate and the Waldsassen monastery coat of arms are depicted on the front of the bay window . The coats of arms of the former mayors Johann Sammet, Christoph Mauser, Philipp Thurn and Bartholomäus Fueger, who were significantly involved in the construction of the new town hall in the 16th century, are attached to both sides.

The entrance portal of the town hall is framed by half-columns and an entablature without a gable . It leads into an arched passage that leads to the rear of the house.
