The town hall in Wolnzach , a market town in the Upper Bavarian district of Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm , was built in 1878. The town hall at Marktplatz 1, which was originally built as a Schrannenhalle , is one of the protected architectural monuments in Bavaria. It stands free on the market square opposite the Catholic parish church of St. Laurentius .

description

The two-storey gable roof construction on the eaves side with a raised central roof section, pilaster strips and a tower-like portal axis was built from sandstone masonry. In the middle axis there is a clock floor with a figure niche. In the arched aedicula is the sculpture of Our Lady with the child. In the basement there is a vaulted hall that is used for exhibitions. From 1999 to 2001 the town hall was extensively renovated.

The building was probably inspired by the town hall in Geisenfeld , built in 1626 .

Former Schranne from 1878 to 1880

On the ground floor, the hops , which the farmers brought in by horse and cart, were weighed and sealed. The administrative inspector lived in one half of the first floor and the offices were in the other half. The sacks of hops and grain were stored on the second floor. There was also a prison in the basement.
