The 1050  m high Rauhe Kulm is a mountain in the front Bavarian Forest north of the district town of Deggendorf and is located in the municipality of Bernrieds in the district of Deggendorf , right on the border with the district of Regen .

Neighboring mountains are the Vogelsang ( 1022  m ) to the southeast and the Hirschenstein ( 1092  m ) to the northwest .

The easiest ascent is via Kalteck . The summit can be reached in around 2 hours via the well-developed hiking trail. It is usually passed when climbing the Hirschenstein via Kalteck and is rarely climbed as a separate summit.

In 1995 the Rauher Kulm natural forest reserve was designated here with an area of ​​76.8 hectares. It is located at an altitude of 830 to 1050 meters on rock and block soils and serves to preserve mixed mountain forests , beech forests and rubble forests . The summit and a large proportion of the slope areas belong to the FFH area Deggendorfer Vorwald .
