Raul Soares , officially Portuguese Município de Raul Soares , is a city in Minas Gerais , Brazil . It is located 230 km east of the capital Belo Horizonte . The population was estimated as of July 1, 2019 at 23,762 inhabitants, who live on a community area of around 763.4 km² and are called Raul-Soarensians ( raul-soarenses ). It ranks 146th out of the state's 853 municipalities.
Origin of name
It was named after the politician Raul Soares de Moura .

The place is divided into six districts (seat Raul Soares, Bicuíba, Santana do Tabuleiro, São Sebastião do Óculo, São Vicente da Estrela and Vermelho Velho ) and 2 settlements (Cornélio Alves and Capitão Martins).
