Raun is a district of the municipality of Bad Brambach in the Upper Vogtland . The village is known for its picturesque, listed site.

Rauner Chapel from the 16th century

history

Raun is a typical Waldhufendorf , which was first mentioned in 1378. There are still numerous half-timbered houses in the Egerland style and various surrounding structures - and - typical for the Upper Vogtland - shell houses . The village chapel is one of the oldest in the Vogtland. The place belonged to the Voigtsberg office until the 19th century .

The railway separates the village into Oberdorf and Unterdorf. The Lohhäuser, Raunergrund and Raunerhammer are off the beaten track .

In execution of the contract between the German Reich and the Czechoslovak Republic on border watercourses and the exchange of territory on the Prussian stretch of the German-Czechoslovak border from January 31, 1930, a further contract between the two states on September 27, 1935 on border watercourses on the Saxon and Bavarian Section of the border as well as an exchange of territory at the border completed. On July 3, 1936, the 93 hectare Niederreuther half-slave was assigned to the German Reich. The tip, which consists of parts of the Rohrichwald forest and the border inn "Zum Schimmel", was commonly referred to as the mold tongue because of its shape . The district of Kleedorf with the mold was reclassified to Oberbrambach in 1938 . On July 1, 1950, the previously independent municipality of Gürth was incorporated.

Raun is a heavily agricultural village. There are also various craft businesses. In the 19th century, parts were made here for the instrument makers in Markneukirchen and Klingenthal .

Due to the beautiful surroundings and good hiking opportunities, there are the “Schwalbenhof” and “Untere Mühle” accommodation providers. Some residents have created a second mainstay for themselves with private room rental. In addition to the pensions, you can eat in the restaurants "Rauner Hof" in the village center and "Felsenkeller" on the B 92.

The village festival takes place once a year. The rest of the time, people meet in the “Hutzn-Haisl” or “Rauner Hof”.
