The Rauschenbach is a left tributary of the Preßnitz in the Saxon Erzgebirgskreis , Germany .

course

Rauschenbachmühle Arnsfeld

The Rauschenbach rises in the western part of Grumbach near the "main road". In the direction of flow to the north, it passes the “Mildenauer Straße” at the Neugrumbach settlement . Afterwards the Rauschenbach flows through the nature reserve "Rauschenbachtal" with the Naturfreundehaus Rauschenbachmühle. In the further course the Rauschenbach forms the corridor boundary between the places Mildenau and Arnsfeld , so that the houses to the west of the "Rauschenbachweg" belong to Mildenau, although they are geographically closer to Arnsfeld. After crossing under the state road 218 at the lower end of Arnsfeld, the Rauschenbach flows in small meanders to its confluence with the Preßnitz in the north of Niederschmiedeberg . In the deeply cut river valley in the lower reaches, the road from Arnsfeld to Niederschmiedeberg is crossed several times.

Rauschenbachtal nature reserve

Rauschenbachtal nature reserve

The 41 hectare nature reserve Rauschenbachtal extends from the locality of Neugrumbach at approx. 705 m. ü NN (southern border) to the Arnsfelder Naturfreundehaus Rauschenbachmühle at approx. 590 m. ü NN (northern limit). The richly structured valley of the near-natural Rauschenbach in this area is characterized by numerous rare habitats and unique flora and fauna. It consists of a contiguous forest area that alternates with river meadows. The Rauschenbachtal nature reserve was placed under protection on September 1, 1995. It combines the previous area natural monuments "Neugrumbacher Wiese", "Mildenauer Kunstwiese", "Uferlandschaft am Rauschenbach", "Mooswiese" and "Läusekrautwiese". As part of the fauna-flora-habitat area (FFH area) "Preßnitz- und Rauschenbachtal", the NSG "Rauschenbachtal" is part of the Europe-wide network of protected areas Natura 2000 . The nature reserve is of particular importance when it comes to protecting the habitat types "flowing waters with underwater vegetation", "species-rich nebula grass lawns", "humid tall herbaceous meadows", "mountain hay meadows", "transitional and swinging turf bogs" and "alder, ash and softwood alluvial forests".
