Rawil Ischakowitsch Kaschapow

Rawil Ischakowitsch Kaschapow ( Russian Равиль Исхакович Кашапов , English transcription Ravil Kashapov ; born November 15, 1956 in Krasnogorsk , Uwelsi district , Chelyabinsk Oblast ) is a former Russian marathon runner .

In 1987 he was Soviet champion, eighth at the World Athletics Championships in Rome and ninth at the Fukuoka Marathon . The following year he won the European Cup marathon , finished tenth at the Olympic Games in Seoul and third in Fukuoka. In 1989 he was fourth in the IAAF World Cup marathon and second in the Chicago Marathon and in Fukuoka, and in 1990 he came in 20th place at the European Athletics Championships in Split and was fourth in Fukuoka.

In the 1990s he switched to the ultra marathon . In 1998 he was Russian champion over 100 km, fifth in the Comrades Marathon and third in the 100 km road running world championships and won each time in the M40 age group. Age group winner in the M45 class, he was seventh at the 100 km European road running championships in 2001 and twelfth at the 100 km world championships and ninth at the 100 km European championships.

Rawil Kashapov is employed at the Volga State Institute of Physical Culture.
