Ray Barrett

Ray Barrett (born May 2, 1927 in Brisbane , Queensland , † September 8, 2009 in Gold Coast , Queensland), actually Raymond Charles Barrett , was an Australian actor and voice actor .

Life

Barrett attended Brisbane High School and studied music and lecturing. In 1954 he moved to Sydney , where he had his first film role and was one of the first actors to be signed by the newly formed drama division of the ABC . In 1957 he moved to England , where he had guest roles in various British television series and a recurring role in the series Ghost Squad . In the mid-1960s he began working with Gerry Anderson . He first spoke to Commander Sam Shore in the Stingray puppet series , and between 1965 and 1966John Tracy in the Thunderbirds series .

Between 1965 and 1972 he played one of the leading roles in the series The Troubleshooters . In the mid-1970s he moved back to Australia and worked there in various film and television productions. He has been nominated several times for the Australian Film Institute's AFI Award , which he won twice. In 2005 he was finally awarded the Life Achievement Award . He played his last role in 2008 in Australia alongside Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman .

Barrett was a second marriage and had two children.
