Raymond Philip Kalisz

Raymond Philip Kalisz SVD (born September 25, 1927 in Melvindale , Michigan , † December 12, 2010 in Techny , Illinois ) was an American religious , missionary and Roman Catholic bishop of Wewak in Papua New Guinea .

Life

Raymond Philip Kalisz, son of Polish immigrants, joined the religious order of Steyler Missionaries and was ordained a priest on August 15, 1954 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him bishop of the Wewak diocese in Papua New Guinea in 1980. He was ordained bishop on August 15, 1980 by the Archbishop of Madang , Leo Clement Andrew Arkfeld SVD; Co -consecrators were the senior archbishop of Madang, Adolph Alexander Noser SVD, and the coadjutor bishop of Goroka , Raymond Rodly Caesar SVD. Kalisz was President of the Episcopal Conference of Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands from 1996 to 1999.

In 2002, his resignation was granted by Pope John Paul II. He died in the US headquarters of the Steyler Missionaries in Techny , Illinois .
