Hans Rebelein

Hans Rebelein (born May 17, 1916 near Nuremberg , † May 23, 1975 in Würzburg ) was a German chemist . He was the chemical director of the state chemical investigation office in Würzburg and developer of investigation methods for beverage analysis for the investigation of beverages for alcohol, sugar and sulfur.

Life

Rebelein studied chemistry in Würzburg during the Second World War . From 1945 he worked at the State Chemical Research Institute in Würzburg. This was followed by food technology studies and a doctorate on a wine chemistry topic.

His main focus was on wine assessment using methods that were partly developed and simplified by himself. His research methods received national and international recognition. They also went into the wine inspection regulations.

He was a member of the Federal Committee for Wine Research and a permanent member of the Wine Analysis Commission of the Federal Health Office in Berlin. In 1958 he received the honorary diploma from the international wine office in Paris for the determination of glycerine and butylene glycol.

The examination methods according to Dr. Rebelein are due to him.

Rebelein was a member of the Catholic student association KDSt.V. Gothia-Würzburg in the CV .
