Recai Hallaç
Recai Hallaç (* 1962 in Istanbul ) is a Turkish actor , simultaneous interpreter and literary translator from Turkish.
Life
Hallaç grew up in his native Istanbul and attended the German-Turkish school İstanbul Lisesi there . He received training as a simultaneous interpreter in Brussels , after which he lived again in Istanbul. In 1990 he moved to Germany.
Here Hallaç initially worked as an editor , speaker and actor at the WDR Funkhaus Europa, in particular at Cologne Radyosu and the Turkish editorial team of Deutsche Welle . Hallaç's own theater projects took him to Austria and Cyprus . With the Theater an der Ruhr , where he worked as an actor for five years under Roberto Ciulli , he also appeared in Bogotá , Istanbul, Cairo , Sarajevo and Tehran .
In 2008 he founded the publishing house “Edition Galata”. In 2001 he had the Roman messenger Child Murders of Perihan Mağden translated into German. More translations by Aslı Erdoğan The Miraculous Mandarin and Ahmet Ümit Patasana followed, published by "Edition Galata". Further translations were the short story volume Waiting for fear (Korkuyu beklerken) by Oğuz Atay and the novel The Limping Rhythm (Aksak ritim) by Gaye Boralıoğlu . Both books are published by Binooki Verlag . Most recently, he translated the novel Madonna's Last Dream (Madonna'nın Son Hayali) Doğan Akhanlı. The book was published by Sujet-Verlag in 2019.
Hallaç also appears as a reciter and has had minor roles in film. In 2006 he spoke to the tea chef from Pamuks Schnee for a radio play version of NDR and Deutschlandradio. Hallaç also accompanied authors such as Orhan Pamuk and Ahmet Ümit to readings as a translator.
