Recondite

Recondite (* in Lower Bavaria as Lorenz Brunner ) is a German musician , techno producer , label owner and sound artist .

Life

Brunner grew up in a strongly rural area and often cites this background as the source of his inspiration. In addition to the rural surroundings and the Lower Bavarian landscape, their population is also mentioned as having a direct influence on his artistic work. This applies to the artist in general and to his alias Recondite in particular.

Embedded in this rural environment, the first own productions were created in a small home studio. Following that early musical creative period, he moved to Berlin in 2009 . Starting in 2011, Brunner released tracks under the name Recondite on the Plangent Records label he founded . The first release (PLAN 001), comprising four tracks, was very well received nationally and internationally. In the same year Recondite appeared for the first time in the Panorama Bar / Berghain in Berlin. Further publications on his own label as well as on Scuba 's hotflush label followed increasing concert inquiries at home and abroad.

Recondite received increased attention through the long player "On Acid", which was released in 2012 on the US label Absurd Recordings . The tracks, influenced by the typical acid sound , added an additional facet to Brunner's musical diversity. The music press highlighted the fact that Brunner succeeded in giving the well-known stylistic devices and sounds of Acid his very own character and in this way generating such a musical and complex album. The appreciative echo of the musical journals and online portals as well as the continued success of his live shows led Recondite to the United States in 2012, where he performed gigs in New York for the first time .

With the release of the second long player “ Hinterland ” on the US label Ghostly International in 2013, Recondite became a live act that was in demand and booked worldwide. Since then, Recondite has continuously appeared on stages in Europe, America, Asia and Australia. He occurs at major events such as the Melt! , the Amsterdam Dance Event and the Time Warp as well as a club act in smaller and medium-sized venues with a correspondingly more intimate atmosphere. For example, Brunner played at the Time Warp Festival 2014 between Sven Väth and Richie Hawtin . In the same year, Recondite became an integral part of Richie Hawtin's ENTER.Ibiza 2014 as resident DJ .

On November 10, 2014, Recondite's third album "Iffy" was released on Dixon's and Âmes label Innervisions . The video clip for the track “Levo” contained on “Iffy” was released beforehand. With "Levo" Brunner managed the leap into the top 10 again Beatport - Charts . The attention, in the form of positive reviews, had already exceeded the usual reporting in the music press in advance. In addition to the well-known specialist magazines, general news sites such as Spiegel-Online or N24 also reported on the “sublimity of this music”.

Similarly, Recondite emerges as a sought-after remixer . At the beginning of 2015 remixes for Mind Against on the label Life And Death and for Richie Hawtins label Mute Records on the Plastikman single EX-Remixes were released . In addition, Brunner has already worked for artists as diverse as Scuba , Ricardo Donoso and Kele Okereke . In the spring of 2015 Recondite was with three tracks in the techno Top 10 Beatport - Charts . Including a remix for Tale of Us .

In autumn 2015 Recondite's fourth long player was released. The album is titled "Placid" and is, after the extremely successful "On Acid" from 2012, the artist's second LP on the US label Absurd Recordings .

style

The variety of appearances is reflected in Recondite's releases on various labels such as Dystopian , Innervisions , Ghostly International or Life And Death . These are each carried by different types of electronic music, but always characterized by Brunner's own sound. Recondite plays live at its shows and is known for adapting its sets to the respective moods of the audience as well as to the diverging local conditions. This earned him a nomination in the “Electronic Live Performance” category at the “DJ Awards 2014”. With the EP "Caldera" Recondite was number 1 in the Beatport techno charts.

The music style Recondites is assigned to the genre Ambient as well as Deep House and Techno / Acid Techno . In fact, Brunner's musical output blurs these boundaries into one another. The publications include both melancholy and melancholy pieces, with an atypically low bpm number, as well as techno productions clearly designed for the dance floor. Accordingly, it is sometimes difficult for the music press to categorize clearly. These designated Recondites style, for example, already as ". Recondite uses both field recording and synthetically generated sounds.
