Red Hills Lake County AVA (recognized July 12, 2004) is a wine-growing region in the US state of California . The area is in southwest Lake County . The Protected Designation of Origin wine region is located on the southwestern shore of Clear Lake . The vineyards lie at the foot of Mount Konocti , an extinct volcano . The vineyards are at a height of 430 m to 910 m. With an annual rainfall of 640 to 1000 mm, the climate is comparatively humid.
