Clear Lake AVA (recognized since May 8, 1984) is a wine-growing region in the US state of California . The area is in southwest Lake County . The protected designation of origin wine-growing region completely encloses Clear Lake . The water masses of California's largest freshwater reserve moderate the climate and the region is one of the coolest in the state. This is why early-ripening grape varieties such as Tempranillo and white Sauvignon Blanc can be successfully grown here.

The area of ​​the Clear Lake AVA partially overlaps with the defined area of ​​the Designation of Origin High Valley AVA .
