style

Primordial also develop a little further on Redemption at the Puritan's Hand without giving up their characteristic Pagan Metal style with echoes of Black Metal and Folk Metal . In addition to AA Nemtheanga's emotional and mostly clear vocals, the focus is on guitars influenced by folk, death and black metal as well as the partly folk and partly military-inspired drumming. The melancholic, hymnic or aggressive pieces are again relatively long and mostly medium tempo. The lyrics are about mortality and how people deal with it.

reception

The album was again positively received by the press, although it was often rated slightly lower than its two predecessors. For Stephan Voigtländer from powermetal.de , Redemption at the Puritan's Hand is “just a pretty good record” and “still comes with some great hymns, but you are only occasionally haunted by goose bumps because the Irish have a consistently high compositional level this time have not achieved ". Phil Freeman from Allmusic criticizes the album as being monotonous in places, but also praises it as troubled, powerful and epic. Markus Endres from metal.de says: “PRIMORDIAL's seventh work is also inspired by that epic tragedy and passion, this special intense atmosphere, this unmistakable, unique style that we know and love from the Irish albums. It is these simple, but extremely effective, overwhelmingly intoxicating riffs with their great melodies that enchant at first, and immediately afterwards Alan's emotionally mangy, suffering vocals come, which completely dissolve in his emotional world ”. In the German Metal Hammer was Redemption at the Puritan's Hand album of May 2011th
