The Redwood Creek is an approximately 108 km long river in the northwest of the US state California . It drains an area of approximately 738 km².

Redwood Creek has its source in the California Coast Mountains in Humboldt County . It flows in a north-north-westerly direction through the mountains. 6 km above the mouth, the 18.5 km long Prairie Creek (catchment area about 100 km²) meets the river from the right. Then the river Orick passes , the only settlement on the river before it flows into the Pacific Ocean . US Highway 101 crosses the river at Orick . The State Route 299 crosses the Redwood Creek after about a third of its flow path. The catchment area has a length of about 100 km with a width between 6.5 and 11 km. The lower 40% of the catchment area is within the Redwood National and State Parks . The catchment area borders on that of the Mad River in the south and that of the Klamath River in the north .

In the upper area of the catchment area, the timber industry dominates. In the winter months, there are always heavy rain events. The river carries a high load of sediments due to landslides and soil erosion.

Various migratory fish such as the steelhead trout can be found in the river.

Within the national park, near the Tall Tree Grove, on a slope above the brook Hyperion , stands the tallest known tree on earth.
