The Reformed Church in Bergün / Bravuogn in Grisons is an Evangelical - Reformed church under cantonal conservation . The building is at the southeast exit of the village towards the Albula Pass .

History and equipment

The church was built in 1188. In the pre-Reformation period, around 1500 the choir was renewed, the nave was redesigned and the Romanesque church tower was given a new helmet over eyelashes .

The interior of the Bergün church has a wooden ceiling that is richly carved and runs through the entire nave. The famous late Gothic fresco cycle is an Italian wall painting from the early Renaissance period . a. with motifs for the passion of Jesus Christ .

The pulpit with a sound cover and the gallery , which is only accessible from the outside, date from the first half of the 18th century. The organ is more recent and was installed in 1979.

In the center of the church at the entrance to the choir is the baptismal font , which, according to the Reformed Graubünden custom, also functions as a communion table.

Synod

In 1618, the Graubünden Synod , which met in Bergün, was the starting point for the Thusner criminal court .

Church organization

The Evangelical Reformed Church of Graubünden leads Bergün with the Stugl and Latsch fractions as an independent parish within the Colloquium X Davos-Albula .
