Reformed Church of Santa Maria Val Müstair
The Reformed Church in Santa Maria Val Müstair is a Protestant - Reformed church under the monument of the canton of Grisons .
History and equipment
Secured things are only known from the new building by Andreas Bühler in the pre-Reformation period in 1492, who replaced a Romanesque predecessor church, but partially preserved its structure. A special feature was that after the Reformation was accepted by a majority of the village, the church was used simultaneously by both denominations until 1838, when the building was transferred entirely to the Reformed.
The church tower with a pyramid-shaped helmet adjoins the facade in the south. The monumental Christophorus painting on the north-eastern outer wall was installed in 1513 by a South Tyrolean master. The picture "Christ on the Mount of Olives" on the western front was made by the same artist.
Inside the building, the choir shows a star vault and paintings by a German master from 1492 of seven apostles , which extend into the nave . The Last Supper table dates to 1643 at the end of the Bündner Wirren , the pulpit to 1649, the gallery to 1653. The organ is more recent and was installed in 1865/1867; a restoration of neo-Gothic parts of the case took place in 1981
There are numerous epitaphs in the vestibule and in the cemetery .
