Reginald Jacob "Reggie" Cannon (* 11. June 1998 in Chicago ) is an American football player who in the MLS - Franchise FC Dallas has a contract. The right full-back has been the US international since October 2018 .

Career

Born in Chicago , Illinois , Reggie Cannon played at the Grapevine Faith Christian School in Grapevine , Texas and joined the FC Dallas youth team in 2015 . In August 2016 he joined the UCLA Bruins , the soccer team at the University of California, Los Angeles . There he played for four months and made 20 appearances during this time. He left college on December 22, 2016 and returned to FC Dallas as a homegrown player . There he was scheduled as a substitute in the first team and only made his debut in the middle of the season in a 2-1 home win against the Tulsa Roughnecks in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup on June 15, 2017. He played his first Major League Soccer game on September 3, 2017 (28th matchday) in a 2-2 draw with the New York Red Bulls when he came on for Michael Barrios in the 92nd minute . In the 2017 season he played one league game and two cup games.

In the following game year 2018 , Reggie Cannon was already the regular starter in the position of right full-back . On May 19, 2018 (12th matchday), he scored his first goal for the Toros in a 2-2 draw against the Vancouver Whitecaps . He missed only one competitive game of his team this season and was in the starting line-up in all of his 38 appearances. He became one of the United States' greatest defensive talents, and his partnership with right winger Michael Barrios was considered one of the best in the league. In the following season of 2019 , he was unable to achieve this quota due to an international match from mid-June to mid-July 2019. Cannon scored a goal in the 3: 4 away defeat after extra time against the Seattle Sounders in the qualifying round of the playoffs for the championship. In total, he played 29 league games this season, in which he scored two goals and one assist.

National team

Reggie Cannon played for the US U17 and U19 national teams .

On October 17, 2018, he made his debut in the 1-1 draw against Peru in the A-selection . With the Stars and Stripes , he took part in the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2019 in his own country, where he played in two group matches. In the 3-1 semi-final win against Jamaica , he was used over the entire game distance. Cannon also started in the 1-0 loss to Mexico in the final.
