Antonín Zápotocký government
The Czechoslovak government, Antonín Zápotocký , led by Prime Minister Antonín Zápotocký , was in office from June 15, 1948 to March 21, 1953. The political show trials in Czechoslovakia began during their term of office . It followed the Klement Gottwald II government and was replaced by the Viliam Široký I government .
Government formation, program
The government was formed after the parliamentary elections in 1948 and was given the task of consolidating the communist regime. During the term of office it came to the preparation and implementation of the political show trials, which culminated in the Slansky trial in November 1952 with eleven death sentences; Of the total of 242 people executed between 1948 and 1962, 94 people were executed under Prime Minister Zápotocký, 47 of them for political reasons.
On March 21, 1953, after Zápotocký was appointed president, the government of Viliam Široký I followed .
