The Regionalps (RA), its own name RegionAlps , is a railway company in the canton of Valais with its headquarters in Martigny . The subsidiary of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) and Transports de Martigny et Régions (TMR), founded in 2003 , initially operated vehicles from the two owner railways . It operates regional traffic primarily in the Rhone Valley between the east bank of Lake Geneva and Brig .

Companies

Regionalps SA was founded in 2003 by the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) and Transports de Martigny et Régions (TMR) as a joint subsidiary for local passenger transport in Valais. The canton of Valais joined the company as the third shareholder in 2009; since then SBB has held 70%, TMR 18% and the canton of Valais 12% of the share capital.

Since the timetable change on December 13, 2015, the RER trains have been running every 30 minutes from Monday to Friday, so this is in fact an S-Bahn.

Line network

The network of lines operated consists of a long main line and two short branch lines:

St-Gingolph-St-Maurice- Martigny-Sion-Brig , 146 kilometers
Martigny – Sembrancher – Orsières , 19 kilometers and
Sembrancher – Le Châble , 6 kilometers

Rolling stock

Regionalps now own 16 three-part NPZ Domino (railcars and control cars ex SBB) and 4 RABe 525 (ex TMR).
