The Sikasso region is located in southern Mali . The main cities are the capital of the Sikasso , Koutiala and Bougouni region . The region has 2,625,919 inhabitants (2009 census).

The population of Sikasso is made up of the Senufo , the Samago and the largest ethnic group, the Bambara .

Sikasso is divided into the following groups: Bougouni , Kolondiéba , Kadiolo , Koutiala , Sikasso , Yanfolila and Yorosso .
