Ménaka is a region of Mali that was legally created in 2012 from the Ménaka district of the Gao region of the same name . The region is identical to the former Ménaka district. The actual implementation of the region began on January 19, 2016 with the appointment of Daouda Maïga as governor of the region. Members of the region's transition council were appointed on October 14, 2016. The capital of the region is the city of Ménaka .

The region is divided into four cercles:

Most of the small population consists of nomadic Tuareg tribes. The minorities include the Wodaabe and the sedentary Songhai . The area is a traditional center of the Ullemmeden .
