Taoudénit is a region of Mali that was legally created in 2012 from the northern part of Timbuktu County in the Timbuktu Region . The actual implementation of the region began on January 19, 2016 with the appointment of Abdoulaye Alkadi as governor of the region. The members of the region's transition council were appointed on October 14, 2016. General Abderrahmane Ould Meydou replaced Alkadi as governor in July 2017.

The region is divided into the following six districts:

The capital is in Taoudénit , although the government is currently based in Timbuktu due to a lack of infrastructure in Taoudénit.
